I started off just writing poems for girls (don't you judge me dammit) but I wrote my first actual song in 2020 as a Christmas gift to my girl at that time since I was too broke to buy her anything.  I recorded that on my laptop with an Xbox headset btw lol. 

 

It wasn't till 2022 that I wrote another song as an apology to a different girl I was dating (noticing a trend here??) and THAT one was recorded in an actual studio!  It was the process of studio recording that made it click in my head that I really enjoy creating music and watching ideas come to life in the form of MP3 files.  From there, music became a hobby and I'd post songs to Spotify and social media mainly for shiggles. 

 

In 2023 I decided to merge my love of music & gaming and started live streaming on kick.com/jl_savant (wink wink, nudge nudge) and THAT's where everything changed.  Within a few short months of streaming my music I quicky developed a loving famiry (IYKYK) who were more supportive and encouraging than I could have ever expected.  After being gifted an entire streaming PC, 3 microphones, over $2000 cash, and a heartfelt "wake tf up J! You're too talented to NOT be making a living from these songs" talk from Schlef & Mamas (Kick fam, again, IYKYK) everyone made it clear that they saw great potential in me so I kicked shit into gear and got serious about pursuing a career in music.

Now we're here, with you reading my story on a website where I'm selling my music directly, so that I can remain a 100% independent artist and avoid all of the..."Stuff" that we all now know comes with being in the music industry (you know what "stuff" I'm talking about).  So if you like the music and want to be a part of what we're building here then we'd love to have you rock with us and join the VantSquad.  I look forward to growing and taking this journey together because I promise this is just the beginning!
